Choosing a Wall Mural for Your Kid’s Room
Doing your child’s room? Thinking of installing a mural? Great! There are so many ideas to choose from.
This is one of our favourite projects simply because there is so much inspiration and so many choices.
So let’s help you choose a wall mural for your child’s room.
What’s the Theme?
It all starts with a theme. When decorating your child’s room, be sure to pick a theme. You could go with pirates, a space theme or how about some cars?
Would your child love a fairy-tale castle, a zoo, baby animals, horses or dinosaurs?
Or maybe neutral is more your style? Whatever you decide, you will be spoilt for choice with Art4Walls.
So decide a theme, if you haven’t already, and then choose a wall mural that complements well with it.
Here’s a Little Tip: you could actually go vice versa too. Decide a mural, then set a theme for the room accordingly. Do whatever suits you, the point is that the selected wall mural should go with the rest of the room.
We Fancy Characters

Since this is a child’s room, how can there be no cartoons or animations? After all, our childhood is kind of incomplete if we haven’t watched Tom and Jerry, SpongeBob, Dora the Explorer and Powderpuff Girls.
If your child fancies all these characters, then let’s get them straight up on the wall. They will love it!
Be Bold with Colours
It is often good to stick with two or three colours at the most, instead of something too colourful.
Yes, even in a kid’s room. In bedrooms too many colours can be overwhelming and can stimulate too much – which is not what you want when trying to get the little darlings to sleep!
Even if sticking to two or three, try playing around with bright shades, especially those candy coloured, neon tones to create instant impact. Pinks, orange, lime green, or how about blue? You could go with horizontal or vertical blocks, polka dots, stripes, checks, even splashes!

In order to truly create a theme and tie everything together it is important to get some matching sheets, rugs or other decorative pieces in the same colours - only then, will the room look stunning.
If the rest of the room doesn’t go with the wall mural, it’s not going to be an impressive look.
A little secret: generally, this tip works well for any area of the house, not just your kid’s room.
Go with a Product that is Easy to Install
An obvious tip, but still worth mentioning, because in trying to find the best wall mural for a child’s bedroom, many people often forget about this.
Whatever design you go for, ensure that the mural can be installed quickly and easily. Art4Walls murals are designed for easy DIY with an average size wall able to be totally transformed in less than 2 hours!
All our murals are self-adhesive, removable and even re- usable; so if you move house, simply peel the mural from the wall, replace it on the backing sheet and re-stick on your new wall !
Our tip for this – a second pair of hands is very handy!
And our Last Tip – Size
It is important to measure the wall dimensions accurately to ensure the perfect result. A slightly too long mural can easily be trimmed to size but a slightly too short mural will spoil the look.
To make sure your mural is exactly right, measure from end to end and top to bottom in a few different places. This allows for out of square ceilings or walls. Simply use the largest measurement when ordering. Easy peezy.
So let’s get started and create a wall mural for your child’s room!
